What this source can support
Reviewed 15 August 2026 · geometry completeness 48/100 · High for chronology and reported component counts; low for whole-site quantities and current replacement total.
The linked programme/site-total model has a base concept of about SEK 1,026.8m. It uses the reported 2,000 m runway but assumes 30 m width for 60,000 m² / 645,835 ft², assumes 7,000 m² / 75,347 ft² of support buildings, 3.5 mission packages and a SEK 150m generic fuel/protected-support lump. Those assumptions dominate because the source gives no site/building area. The model underuses the directly reported 20 x 100 m³ tank inventory and does not state whether the older three 700 m runways are retained. A second linked Moholm KC archetype model adds about SEK 30.7m from a fully proxy 90 m² / 969 ft²/180 m³ shell basis even though the main model already includes command/mission systems.
Supported useWhole-site history of two wartime fields about 2 km apart that merged into Fält 8/9 and were upgraded to Bas 60. Direct quantities include three 700 m runways at Fält 9, a later 2,000 m concrete runway, 38 initial revetments, 20 buried 100 m³ fuel tanks, 18 later aircraft positions, two field hangars and a buried command centre. The only money figure for Moholm is a mid-1980s proposed civil conversion, apparently not executed.
Geometry evidenceinner_structure: value: dispersed surface airbase with a separate buried command centre, revetments, field hangars, stores and underground fuel tanks | scope: merged Moholm–Bällefors site | note: The whole airfield is not a buried-concrete structure. | other: value: 3 | unit: runways | scope: Fält 9 before the 1953 merger | note: Each runway was reported as 700 m long and the three formed a triangle.; value: 2000 | unit: m | scope: 1956 concrete runway across the merged fields | note: Width and pavement build-up are absent.; value: 38 | unit: initial aircraft revetments | scope: wartime field build | note: Dimensions are not reported.; value: 20 | unit: buried fuel tanks | scope: Bas 60-era focal site | note: Each tank held 100 m³, implying 2,000 m³ total by simple arithmetic.; value: 18 | unit: later aircraft positions | scope: combined BAKOM/UOM | note: Two field hangars also served this area.; value: 2 | unit: km | scope: actual UOM offset from the north end of the main runway | note: Much closer than the article's generic 5–10 km Bas 60 norm.
Historic-cost evidenceamount: SEK 21,500,000 | year: mid-1980s | basis: proposed civil conversion estimate | scope: New civil apron and terminal at Moholm; apparently not executed and not military construction cost.; amount: SEK 6,000,000 | year: mid-1980s | basis: comparator estimate | scope: Lidköping-Hovby civil alternative, not Moholm.
Systems describedRunway, taxiways, runway lighting and grooved surface/drainage experiment; Runway-denial wells and under-runway conduit for explosive charges; Buried KC for minute-to-minute flight operations, start-order monitoring, base radio and telephone exchange; Distributed fuel and ammunition storage; BAKOM/UOM aircraft dispersal, revetments and two field hangars; Camouflaged barn shelters and air-defence positions; No reserve road base and no Törebodabågar were built
Primary cost driversRunway, taxiway and dispersal pavement area; Earthworks and drainage across the merged two-field site; Twenty 100 m³ buried fuel tanks and distribution; Aircraft revetments, hangars and ammunition stores; Command-centre and communications systems; Site-wide roads, utilities and land interfaces
Unit / programme scopeOne merged airbase/site total that changed configuration over time: separate 1939 fields, 1953 merger, 1956 Bas 60 upgrade and later reserve role. A cost model must select a time slice rather than combine every historic configuration.
Revision directionIndeterminate
Missing inputsTotal site and paved area by era; Runway width, section and pavement condition; Taxiway and aircraft-position dimensions; Building and hangar floor areas; KC dimensions and protection standard; Fuel-tank geometry and distribution piping; Historic military construction cost; Explicit functional-equivalent scope date
Site / data issuesThe index/dossier labels the wartime airfield morphology as buried concrete, although only the KC and tanks are buried.; sources_full.json lists only the main-site dossier, while source_dossier_map.json correctly adds the separate Moholm kommandocentral dossier; the main-site model already prices command/mission systems, creating an aggregation double-count risk.; The SEK 21.5m figure is an unexecuted civil-airport proposal, not original or military facility cost.; Generic Bas 60 spacing of 5–10 km must not replace the source's focal UOM distance of about 2 km.; Unbuilt reserve-road-base and Törebodabåge concepts must remain excluded.
